The Red Magic 7 and 7 Pro feature 6.8-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screens with full DCI-P3 color space. The older model’s display benefits from 10-bit color support and higher brightness: 700 nits versus 600 nits. The screen of the Red Magic 7 Pro has a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The polling rate of the sensor layer reaches 960 Hz. Oddly enough, the base Red Magic 7 offers a screen with a refresh rate of 165 Hz, while the touchpad’s polling rate is 720 Hz.
The trigger buttons in the new gaming phones have a polling rate of 500Hz versus 450Hz in the previous generation Red Magic smartphones. As a result, the response speed is only 7.4 ms. This was achieved by using a specially designed ZTE Red Core 1 chip, which handles the sound and vibration processing, as well as lighting effects in games.
It is worth noting that the Red Magic 7 Pro is the first gaming smartphone with a front camera located under the screen. The base Red Magic 7 uses a selfie module placed on the top bezel of the display. In both cases, the resolution of the sensor is 8 megapixels. The main camera of both smartphones combines a 64-megapixel main sensor with additional 8- and 2-megapixel sensors.
Another feature of the new products is a powerful cooling system with a nine-layer structure, supplemented by a fan. This allows you to significantly reduce the temperature of the chipset even during long gaming sessions, while the noise level of the cooler does not exceed 28 dB. For extreme gamers, ZTE has provided an external Turbo Cooler accessory that improves heat dissipation by 17%.
Among the software features, it is worth highlighting the advanced features of the Red Magic Studio application. Now you can broadcast the content of the screen wirelessly with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. When using a wired connection, you can transmit the image at 165 Hz. The ability to record gameplay at 120Hz at 1080p resolution is supported.
Both new items come with a 165W charger. At the same time, the basic version supports 120W fast charging, and Red Magic 7 Pro supports 135W charging. The 4500mAh battery of the Red Magic 7 is charged in 17 minutes, while the 5000mAh battery of the Red Magic 7 Pro charges in 15 minutes. The novelties run on Android 12 with a proprietary Red Magic 5.0 shell.
