Do you remember the boom in 3D imaging technologies about ten years ago, when a three-dimensional image could be viewed on the screen without special glasses? Every decent TV, smartphone and tablet manufacturer should have released at least one device with support for this feature. Despite the fact that the popularity of 3D has long passed, ZTE decided to make another attempt to popularize the technology and introduced the Nubia Pad 3D tablet.

The Nubia Pad 3D is the manufacturer’s first Android tablet with a 3D screen that does not require special stereoscopic glasses. The novelty was developed in cooperation with Leia Inc., a company developing 3D screen technologies and various services related to their use.
The ZTE Nubia Pad 3D tablet features a 12.4-inch IPS display with an aspect ratio of 16:10, a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The panel uses a special patented DLB layer with the Leia 3D Lightfield mode developed by Leia Inc., which allows you to convert a 2D image to 3D in real time using special software preinstalled on the tablet.
The device has two 8-megapixel front cameras with user gaze tracking, needed to create a stereoscopic effect. In addition, cameras can be used to create three-dimensional photos and videos, as well as to scan surrounding objects in the frame. The same features are supported by two 16-megapixel rear cameras available on the device.
The Nubia Pad 3D is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. The gadget offers 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. To expand the volume of the latter, support for microSD memory cards is provided.
The tablet is powered by a 9700 mAh battery. It supports 33W fast charging. The device also received a USB Type-C 3.1 port. Android 13 is used as the operating system.
ZTE and Leia Inc. are also collaborating on the Nubia Pad 3D software. The novelty comes with several pre-installed Leia 3D applications, as well as access to the Leia Appstore with more than 50 3D-enabled games and more than 1200 different educational applications.
Pre-orders for the ZTE Nubia Pad 3D tablet will be accepted starting March 25th. The actual sale of the device will start on April 11th. The cost of new items has not yet been reported.
