Avatars in Microsoft Teams will be relevant for those who do not want to pose in front of the camera at work meetings: if a person does not like the video format or needs a break, he can replace his image with a three-dimensional figure that moves according to the user’s sound signal – the camera is not needed at all.
Microsoft also plans to use this technology in a special version of the enterprise messenger that works with Meta* Virtual reality headset designs. A special version of the Teams client allows you to hold working meetings in a virtual space – all participants in such events are represented by 3D avatars with flying emoticons and simple animations, for example, with the ability to raise your hand to ask for it ask words. However, in the initial phase, avatars will only appear in desktop versions of the client for Windows and macOS.
