Xiaomi introduced the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition gaming phone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, 120W charging and priced at $520

Today Xiaomi presented the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition smartphone in China, the first device in the K50 series and successor to last year’s Redmi K40 Gaming Edition. The novelty is based on the current flagship chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and adds support for fast charging at 120 W. In addition, the device received a special version created as part of a partnership between Xiaomi and the Mercedes AMG Petronas racing team.

As with last year’s Redmi K40 Gaming Edition, a pair of physical trigger buttons are located on the right side of the novelty. The smartphone is mounted on a metal frame and its back is made of glass. In general, the design almost repeats last year’s model.

Under the hood, however, there are key differences between the devices. Xiaomi has developed a completely new cooling system for the Redmi K50 Gaming, which aims to curb the hot temper of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It uses two vaporization chambers of 845mm² and 4015mm². They are complemented by a solid copper heat sink and elements made of graphite, stainless steel and specially selected mesh materials. Thanks to this, the smartphone does not overheat and can keep the frame rate at 120 FPS for 30 minutes.
