Three years after the launch of the Mi Pad 4, Xiaomi has finally unveiled the next generation of tablets. The family includes the basic Mi Pad 5 and the more advanced Mi Pad 5 Pro, which offers users the ability to work on 5G networks. Both devices stand out for their beautiful designs that give them a premium feel.
In terms of technical specifications, Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro are equipped with LCD screens with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The displays on both devices boast natural color reproduction and features to reduce harmful blue light emissions.
Both tablets support Dolby Atmos and, according to the manufacturer, deliver superior sound quality. The Mi Pad 5 has four built-in speakers, while the Mi Pad 5 Pro has eight speakers. Xiaomi claims that the devices provide high-quality reproduction of the entire frequency range.
The Mi Pad 5 Pro is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset, while the heart of the Mi Pad 5 is the Snapdragon 860. Both devices are available in versions with 6 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. The most advanced Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G is only available in a version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
Mi Pad 5 is equipped with a single 13MP main camera. The Mi Pad 5 Pro has a 13-megapixel sensor complemented by a 5-megapixel depth sensor. Both devices are equipped with an 8MP front camera. Separately, it is worth noting the Mi Pad Pro 5G, which instead of the 13-megapixel sensor of the main camera offers a 50-megapixel sensor.
The base Mi Pad 5 comes with an 8720mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. The Mi Pad 5 Pro boasts an 8600mAh battery with 67W charging support.
The new tablets run the proprietary operating system MIUI For Pad, which is based on Android 11. The firmware interface is very similar to iPadOS and is noticeably different from the one used in MIUI for smartphones. MIUI For Pad supports customizable input methods, split screen, multi-window, and a host of other features that bring the experience to a PC-like experience.
Together with the tablets, Xiaomi introduced an active stylus and a protective case with a keyboard. The stylus is equipped with two buttons, one of which is programmed to create quick notes and switch brushes in graphic editors. The second key allows you to take screenshots and switch brush colors. To pair the stylus with the tablet, you just need to attach it to the side of the device. It takes about 18 minutes to fully charge the input device, after which it can be used continuously for eight hours.
Mi Pad 5 is available in black, white and dark green. The 128GB version is priced at $ 310, while the 256GB storage tablet is priced at $ 355. The more advanced Mi Pad Pro is only available in black and white. The 128GB version will cost $ 385. For an additional 128 GB of memory, you will have to pay an additional $ 50. The most advanced Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G, available in a single modification with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, will cost $ 540.
