To increase user privacy, WhatsApp messenger has prepared a new way to protect yourself from prying eyes – creating an alternative profile for those who do not belong to the circle of trusted people. This feature in the beta version of the WhatsApp 184.108.40.206 application for Android was discovered by a resource WABetaInfo.
The beta version of Messenger has a feature to set up an alternative profile: you can set other images and names to be displayed to users who, according to the settings, cannot see basic profile information. So if the user has set their main profile picture to be available only to people in the contact list, everyone else will see an alternative picture.
The new option will be a fairly effective protection measure against “uninvited guests” and will provide users with additional privacy. This feature will also be useful if in the future the WhatsApp administration decides to implement a single username system similar to Telegram. The feature is currently in development and is expected to be released to the public in a future version of the app, including a version for Apple iOS.
