Although WhatsApp’s management hasn’t made any related announcements yet, some users can already enjoy the new feature of the messenger – use it on multiple devices at the same time, just like Telegram and other instant messengers. Companion Mode is ideal for those who want to use one WhatsApp account on multiple smartphones.
Users of two or more smartphones are not so few. At the same time, sometimes it is simply necessary to have a connection from your WhatsApp account from all devices. According to the WABetaInfo portal, the company has already presented “Companion Mode” to some beta testers, which allows using one account on four devices at the same time.
The feature is currently only available in WhatsApp 126.96.36.199 beta and not available to all users, and it doesn’t seem to be supported on iOS yet. If you are lucky enough to become a tester, you will find the corresponding function in the three-point menu of the messenger at the top right – additional devices can be linked via QR code.
According to the Mashable portal, “Companion Mode” was already tested in beta, but later its version remained only on tablets and PCs, everyone can now use “connected” devices. So far, there is no guarantee that the ability to use one account on different smartphones will bypass the beta period. However, there is a demand for such technology in society, so it is likely that Companion Mode will eventually be extended to everyone.
Most recently, WhatsApp has introduced Communities, which allow you to combine multiple groups, as well as the ability to make video calls with 32 interlocutors or chats with up to 1024 participants.
