The Western Digital PC SN740 series is based on an unbuffered DRAM architecture, Western Digital’s own controller (the manufacturer did not specify which one) and BiCS5 3D NAND memory technology. Sequential read speeds up to 5150MB/s for 1TB and 2TB models, up to 50% faster than previous generation SN730 drives. The SN740 series SSDs use the PCIe 4.0 interface.

The SN740 series drives offer support for advanced security features including optional TCG Opal 2.01, TCG Pyrite 2.0 and an ATA password. In addition, they support the proprietary Western Digital SSD Dashboard software. With it, you can monitor the status of the hard drive, available space, temperature and other media parameters.

The company notes that the Western Digital PC SN740 SSDs have been certified and are already shipping to key OEM customers. Drives come with a 5-year limited manufacturer’s warranty.
