In less than two weeks since its release on Steam, Blizzard Entertainment’s shareware team shooter Overwatch 2 has racked up more than 140,000 negative reviews and even won the title of Worst Game, according to users of the service. Negative fan reaction commented Project manager Aaron Keller.
In a speech on Blizzard’s website, Keller acknowledged that there is a flood of negative reviews on Steam “bad experience”However, the joy of watching Overwatch 2 meet new faces outweighs the negativity: “Our goal was to make the game accessible to more people than ever before.”.
At the same time, Keller understands that many players who left a negative review of Overwatch 2 on Steam are unhappy with the abolition of the large-scale PvE mode for which the game was launched. “I see. This announcement was about an ambitious project that we ultimately could not realize.”the developer admitted.
“If we can’t turn back time, what can we do?” asks Keller. Answer: Add new content (maps, heroes, modes, missions, stories, events, cosmetics, features) and improve Overwatch 2 in it “an ever expanding, evolving and improving game”.
Overwatch 2 is available for PC (Battle.net, Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch. With the launch of the Invasion Season (which coincided with the Steam release), the project was released from Early Access, which began in October 2022, and became “full” service game.
