Vivo Y78, Snapdragon 695 smartphone with 120Hz curved display, launched worldwide

In Singapore, the global version of the Vivo Y78 smartphone was quietly presented – it differs slightly from the version released in the Chinese market earlier this month. The new Y78 is larger and has a different chipset, making it more similar to the Y78+ launched in April, although the models aren’t identical either.

The global variant has a 6.78-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 20:9. The fingerprint scanner is located under the display. It is known that the display is curved, so the model looks relatively narrow for such a diagonal.

The novelty received a 65-megapixel main camera (aperture f/1.8), which supports optical image stabilization. There is also a 2-megapixel macro module and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. There is also a 16-megapixel (f/2.45) selfie camera. It is worth noting that both already commercially available variants of the Y78 series are equipped with 8-megapixel selfie modules and 50-megapixel rear cameras.

Although the new Y78 doesn’t come with the fastest Snapdragon 695 chipset, it supports 5G and comes with 8GB of RAM (with the ability to add up to 8GB of virtual memory) and 256GB of ROM. The chipset limits recording options to 1080p at 30 frames per second.

The smartphone runs Android 13 in the FuntouchOS 13 shell and, like its predecessors, received a 5000 mAh battery with fast charging up to 44W, and the charger itself in the corresponding “value” is included in the kit. At least in Singapore, the model is known to come with a basic body and a protective film already stuck on.

The dimensions of the smartphone are 164.3 × 74.8 × 7.9 mm, weight is 177 g. The model is protected against splashes and dust according to the IP54 standard. The price and the start of sales will be announced later. Versions are available in gold and black cases (Dreamy Gold and Flare Black respectively) with a gradient effect.
