The Chinese company Vivo, one of the world’s largest suppliers of smartphones, has announced its own image processor, which is used to process photos and videos from smartphone cameras. It took about two years to create a product with the designation V1.
It is reported that the project involved more than 300 employees of the research center for innovative image processing technologies. These developments are one of the key components of Vivo’s long-term strategic direction. Over the past five years, the company has invested heavily in this area, and the fruits have been the development of numerous breakthrough solutions, such as a 5-axis professional stabilization system and soft selfie light.
“The V1 is a fully adaptable image and video integrated processor critical to Vivo a step in the development of microcircuits. V1 will help the company even better meet the needs of our users by optimizing the operation of applications responsible for recording images and videos“Said Hu Baishan (pictured), executive vice president and chief operating officer of Vivo.
Going forward, Vivo plans to develop innovative image processing technologies in four key areas: actual image processing, operating system, industrial design and performance.
It is also noted that in December 2020, Vivo and Zeiss announced a long-term strategic partnership in the field of innovation and mobile imaging.
