Chinese studio Game Science on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year released a frivolous development diary for his ambitious action-RPG Black Myth: WuKong.

The leaked video is around 13 minutes long and shows the difficulties Game Science encountered in using cat actors to capture animal movements in the game.

To demonstrate the progress made, the developers used a scene from Black Myth: WuKong with a tiger boss. However, during the fight, after each received blow, the beast first began to teleport, and then completely flew away somewhere above.

As a result of Game Science’s failure, Black Myth: WuKong’s development had to be curtailed and hit the grocery store, which the studio is doing well: the team has already made significant progress.

At the end of the video, Game Science reveals that none of what was shown actually corresponds to reality and no one used cats for motion capture.

“You came hoping to see the game. We are working hard on that. Please be patient. The joy will be worth the wait.”– the developers assured the audience at the very end of the video.

Black Myth: WuKong is made for PC and “all major consoles” on Unreal Engine 5. The premiere is expected in 2024 at the earliest. The game is based on the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West.
