Supermassive Games and Bandai Namco Entertainment have published a 20-minute gameplay demo of The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes. The video showed a tense battle with a demon and an exploration of a Sumerian temple.
At the beginning of the video, two US soldiers, Nick and Jason, are trying to rescue their wounded comrade. They are pursued by Pazuzu, the lord of the demons of the winds in Sumerian-Akkadian mythology. The fighters are trying to shoot back and hold back the onslaught of the monster. At certain moments, the monster manages to overtake the heroes, and then the player needs to react in time and perform the action indicated on the screen – shoot from a machine gun or stab. The same fragment of the demo shows the mechanics of keeping calm, familiar to the The Dark Pictures series: the user must press a specific key in time so that the soldier does not panic.
The second episode in the video is dedicated to other characters – Eric and Rachel. They explore the depths of the Sumerian temple where the game takes place. At this moment, you can freely roam the locations, explore the environment and interact with interactive objects. Some of them activate black and white cutscenes that reveal the history of the temple.
The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes will be released on October 22, 2021 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S.
