Developer from the French Asobo Studio brought out The eighth content update in the World Update series for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This time the territory of the Iberian Peninsula – Spain, Portugal, Andorra and Gibraltar – received free upgrades.

The update is already available to all Microsoft Flight Simulator owners. Improved locations and new objects were demonstrated in a three-minute trailer.

Mainly innovations and changes:

  • new photogrammetry based on satellite images for the following cities: Lisbon, Barreiro, Malaga, Bilbao, Cascais, Coimbra;
  • updated elevation data and aerial photos for Spain, Portugal, Andorra and Gibraltar;
  • four handcrafted airports: La Seu d’Urgell, Pico, Faro, A Coruña;
  • 99 handcrafted landmarks (including the Sagrada Familia and Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona, ​​Nuestra Señora del Pilar in Zaragoza, the Royal Palace in Madrid, the Alcazar in Toledo and Burgos Cathedral);
  • four professional flights (Portugal, Pyrenees, Isthmus of the Pyrenees, Mediterranean coast);
  • four sightseeing flights (Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Coimbra, Gibraltar, Lisbon);
  • five landing tests (Girona, Bilbao, Pico Airport, Leon, Portimão).

In addition, the developers added Portuguese localization and improved data for 100 airports, and a new aircraft from the Local Legends series, the Junkers Ju 52, appeared in the in-game store. will appear the opportunity to purchase another legendary German means of transport – the Dornier Do J Wal seaplane.

The seventh update of this series was dedicated to Australia. The ninth is published in May and transform Italy and Malta.

Shortly before the release of World Update VII, the developers announced plans to support the game for 2022. In April, the simulator will receive a technical patch with performance improvements on long flights, in May a free add-on based on the movie Top Gun: Maverick (Top Gun: Maverick), and in the fall – gliders and helicopters. Additionally, support for NVIDIA DLSS for DirectX 12 mode will be added before the end of the year. A more detailed roadmap will be released between April and June.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is available now on PC, Xbox Series X and S. Since launch, the game has been offered on Xbox Game Pass, and recently became available via Xbox Cloud Gaming (also on Xbox One, mobile devices and weak PCs).
