Nintendo Publishing and Development Studio MercurySteam presented A laudatory trailer for its action-platformer Metroid Dread, the first 2D game in the series in 19 years.
Recall that critics agreed that Metroid Dread was worth many years of waiting: the rating of the project on the aggregator’s website Metacritic reached 89 out of 100% (with an average user assessment 8.7 out of 10 points).
The unveiled video is just under one and a half minutes long and showcases excerpts and ratings from select reviews, along with footage of gameplay and Metroid Dread intro cutscenes.
Metroid Dread takes place after the finale of Metroid Fusion. The bounty hunter Samus Aran arrives on the planet ZDR, which is teeming with EMMI robots seeking to destroy the heroine.
Metroid Dread debuted on October 8th this year exclusively on Nintendo Switch. In UK retail, the game had the best start in franchise history, but didn’t reach the top of the weekly chart.
