The choppy early access launch of shareware team-based shooter Overwatch 2 will be remembered not only for several large DDoS attacks, disconnections and player connection issues, but also for low user ratings on Metacritic.
At the time of writing this article, the average player rating on the PC version of Overwatch 2 review aggregator was only 1.3 out of 10 points. Users complain about the already mentioned connection problems, long queues, aggressive monetization and the complete abandonment of the developers of the first Overwatch. However, only from the level of Warcraft III: Reforged with its 0.6 out of 10 points The new version of Blizzard did not crash.
Among the known issues, the need to link a phone number to a game account is mentioned separately, but after numerous complaints, Blizzard decided to remove this feature for “Most Existing Overwatch Players”. Overwatch 2 Early Access and Season 1 launched October 4th on PC (Battle.net), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch. The developers promise regular seasonal updates and a Battle Pass instead of loot boxes. Today, October 6th, Blizzard has already commented on the problematic launch of Overwatch 2 Early Access and outlined a plan to rectify the situation.
