Gigabyte has announced an update for the G5 and G7 gaming laptops. Refreshed models received an Intel Core i5-12500H processor with 12 cores and 16 threads and a frequency of 2.5-4.5 GHz from the Alder Lake series, as well as an additional option for the graphics subsystem. The G5 and G7 laptop models presented in May last year were equipped with Tiger Lake H-series chips.
Each laptop model is offered in configurations with GeForce RTX 3050 Ti and RTX 3050 graphics accelerators. They added the option of a more powerful GeForce RTX 3060 card. Each laptop can also offer up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM.
The G5 model comes with a 15.6-inch display, while the G7 version comes with a 17.3-inch display. In all cases, a Full HD matrix with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hz is used. For all models, the base configuration offers a 512 GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive and the installation of two M.2 SSDs in 2280 format.
The laptops also include Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 adapters, an Ethernet controller, a backlit keyboard, 2W stereo speakers, USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A, USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C, USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A , HDMI 2.1, Mini-DP 1.4. In addition, the updated models each received a Thunderbolt 4.0 (Type-C) port.
The company notes that it has reduced the size of laptops by 22%. The dimensions of the 17-inch version are now 397 × 262 × 25 mm, weight 2.39-2.49 kg (depending on the configuration). The dimensions of the 15-inch model are 360 × 238 × 23.9 mm and the weight ranges from 1.9 to 1.99 kg.
The company did not disclose the cost of updated laptop models.
