The Chinese startup Geometric Future, founded in 2020, presented an unusual computer case Model 8 Cowboy. One of its main features is the partial decoration of some elements with genuine leather. This material is used on the front panel of the case connectors, as well as on the sides of the novelty.
The front part of the novelty is made of brushed aluminum with a thickness of 2 mm. The sides of the case are fitted with 4mm thick tempered glass panels. The exterior is finished with cantaloupe cowhide leather. On the left side of the case on the leather interior you can see the presence of an embossed Geometric Future logo.
Because the front of the case is completely closed, the manufacturer has revised the access scheme for fresh access inside the Model 8 Cowboy. The back of the case is a one-piece perforated panel, and the bottom of the case is almost entirely open, except for a few standoffs in places where cooling fans can be installed. Unfortunately, the company skimped on dust filters, so you’ll have to buy them yourself if you need them. Luckily, there are many options on the market right now to help you choose the right size.
The installation of the motherboard in the case is carried out according to an unusual scheme – the installation site is rotated 90 degrees, so all interfaces on the back of the motherboard are aligned from the top of the Model 8 Cowboy. The novelty provides for the presence of seven holes for expansion slots. The upper part of the case is equipped with a removable perforated lid. All the necessary cables can be routed through two small openings on the back of the case.
The body dimensions of the Model 8 Cowboy are 500 × 230 × 500 mm. It is suitable for installing Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, ATX and E-ATX motherboards. Inside there is enough space for installing graphics cards up to 400 mm long and CPU coolers up to 170 mm high. In the upper part there is space for two 120 mm fans, in the rear part you can install three 120 mm or three 140 mm “turntables” or a coolant radiator up to 420 mm long and 55 mm thick. In the lower part of the housing there is also space for three 120/140 mm fans or coolant radiators up to 420 mm long and up to 65 mm thick.
The case offers six combo slots for installing 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch drives.
The front panel of the novelty features two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, two USB 3.0 Type-A, one USB 3.1 Gen.2 Type-C and a pair of 3.5mm audio jacks.
The manufacturer has priced the Model 8 Cowboy trunk at around $140.
