Apple is working to build an ecosystem of third-party apps that users can use with the Vision Pro mixed reality headset. The company said its partners include Adobe, Cisco and Microsoft, whose applications will be among the first to be made available for the headset.
But also during Apple’s presentation, Susan Prescott, the company’s vice president of global developer relations, said:We know there is a community of developers who have been creating incredible 3D applications for years. Today we’re excited to announce that we’re working with Unity to port these apps to Vision Pro. In this way, popular games and applications based on Unity can fully access visionOS features such as high-resolution rendering and integrated gestures.“. It was that phrase that caused Unity’s stock to soar 26%.
The main novelty of WWDC 2023 is Vision Pro, a mixed reality headset that combines the functions of augmented reality (augmented reality, AR) and virtual reality (virtual reality, VR).
