Games Industry Portal shared information on sales of retail games in the UK from 1 to 7 August 2021. The reporting period was marked by the preservation of the leader’s position.
Formula simulator F1 2021, which topped the rating at the end of July, for the third week in a row, has not given the top spot to anyone, despite a 30 percent decline in sales.
Closest to the first joint release of Electronic Arts and Codemasters has gotten a regular on the retail chart in the person of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Nintendo’s racing hit climbed one line up in a week.
The most notable rise in the top 10 was the rise of Olympic Games Tokyo 2020: The Official Video Game from position eighth to third. The rise in popularity of the arcade sports was probably associated with the last days of the Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
Another Olympic game – Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – held its 17th position. It’s worth noting that the project debuted in November 2019 on Nintendo Switch.
The adventure thriller The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD dropped from second to fifth in the reporting period, while the action RPG NEO: The World Ends With You dropped out of the top 40 in the second week of its release.
