UK Charts: Splatoon 3 peaked at #1 but fell short of #2

Portal of the game industry shared information on the sale of retail editions of games in the UK for the period 4th to 10th September. The week was marked by another leadership change.

As is well known, the network shooter Splatoon 3 turned out to be the main bestseller. The new game reached the top line for the first time in the history of the series: Splatoon and Splatoon 2 once stayed a step away from the top.

Still, Splatoon 3’s launch in UK retail was 9% more modest than that of the second installment. The Triquel had the 21st biggest first-week launch among Nintendo Switch games.

In terms of other new releases, basketball sim NBA 2K23 debuted at #6, multiplayer creature-collecting game Temtem at #21, and action-RPG Steelrising at #29.

The top 10 UK retail charts from 4th to 10th September are as follows (last week’s result in brackets):

  1. Splatoon 3 (new);
  2. Horizon Forbidden West (2);
  3. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (5);
  4. The Last of Us Part I (1);
  5. Nintendo Switch Sport (7);
  6. NBA 2K23 (new);
  7. Animal Crossing: New Horizons (10);
  8. Minecraft (11);
  9. Saint’s Row (6);
  10. Pokémon Legends: Arceus (9).
