A long forgotten franchise unexpectedly decided to revive Ubisoft company. The company plans to develop a TV series based on Driver. The latest big game in the racing series is Driver: San Francisco, released 10 years ago.
The plot of each part necessarily told about a skilful driver who acted undercover, played a double game and brought the bandits and villains to clean water. Driver: San Francisco introduced a unique mechanic to the series, with the help of which the protagonist could move to any other car while driving. Despite good reviews, the game was a flop, after which Ubisoft shelved the franchise.
Now the publisher is preparing the series in conjunction with the streaming platform Binge, which will launch in 2022 and will specialize in content for gamers. It is reportedly going to be a live-action show.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Binge. It will allow us to create a Driver series that will appeal to game audiences looking to see a franchise renaissance. “– said the head of the television department of Ubisoft Danielle Kreinik (Danielle Kreinik).
There remains only one question – why is Ubisoft not developing a new game based on Driver, but creating a series?
