After a massive leak, French publisher and developer Ubisoft confirmed plans to update the cult adventure action game Beyond Good and Evil, but hasn’t revealed all the maps in advance.
We would like to remind you that the Beyond Good and Evil 20th Anniversary Edition, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the original game, appeared on the ESRB website in August and unexpectedly (and briefly) became available to Ubisoft + subscribers at the end of November on Xbox.
Ubisoft got tired of pretending they hadn’t heard about the Anniversary Edition, and on November 29th they said: “Well, the cat’s out of the bag, damn it. Congratulations on the 20th anniversary of Beyond Good and Evil! We can’t wait to tell you about this special edition..
Contrary to the impression created by the leak, the Beyond Good and Evil 20th Anniversary Edition is not currently being released. In addition, the release is not scheduled until early 2024. At that time, Ubisoft will announce further information about the remaster.
Ubisoft emphasized that it intends to release a game that meets fans’ high expectations and honors the legacy of the original Beyond Good and Evil, and thanked players for their understanding and support.
As for the working 20th Anniversary Edition build that was leaked on Xbox, Ubisoft gives it an early shout out: “We apologize for the confusion and want to reassure the community that this version does not reflect the quality of the final game.”.
Beyond Good and Evil 20th Anniversary Edition is expected to release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch. The remaster will offer technical improvements and new content (mode, gallery, rewards, achievements).
