Ubisoft announced The Division 3 casually

Star Wars Outlaws creative director Julian Gerighty after completing work on the game will be Executive producer of the Tom Clancy’s The Division series and will oversee the free-to-play games The Division Heartland, Mobile The Division, The Division 2 and – surprise – The Division 3.

That’s right: Ubisoft casually announced The Division 3 in a press release dedicated to Gerity’s new position. Development is being led by the Swedish company Massive Entertainment, which is responsible for the previous two series installments (as well as Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora).

When the threequel was announced, there was neither a trailer nor current images nor any details. The Division 3 appears to be in very early stages of production, with the press release mentioning that Massive Entertainment “Actively build a team” for the project.

Gerity’s primary role will be assembling a team for The Division 3, supporting The Division 2, and building brand awareness: “Even though we have 40 million players, The Division is a young franchise. There are so many untold stories, unexplored places and people to protect.”.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 was released in March 2019 on PC (Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store), PS4 and Xbox One; It only appeared on Steam in January 2023 and is backwards compatible on PS5, Xbox Series X and S. It is unclear when and on which platforms The Division 3 can be expected.
