Twitter shares ad revenue with bloggers, but requires a Blue subscription

Elon Musk informedthat Twitter will start sharing revenue from ads placed in the comments on their posts with bloggers. The payout program will go live today but is only available to Twitter Blue subscribers.

So far, Twitter only offers two monetization programs: Tips, which are direct donations from readers, and Super Follows, which are subscribers who regularly transfer money to authors in exchange for access to exclusive content. Direct payouts from Twitter put the platform on par with YouTube, Instagram* and TikTok, which already shares ad revenue with popular developers.

Available in select countries only, Twitter Blue costs $8 per month when purchased directly through the website, or $11 when purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play. However, there is also an opportunity to save money by purchasing a one-year subscription at once for $84. It gives users a number of privileges: a blue confirmation tick, uploading videos up to 60 minutes long, editing tweets and navigation, various application icons and a few other features.

The Twitter administration has not yet published details about the new monetization program – maybe that will come later.

* It is included in the list of public associations and religious organizations for which the court made a final decision, activities on the grounds of Federal Law No. 114-FZ of July 25, 2002 “On Combating Extremist Activity”.
