Apple management traditionally remains silent on future products, and June’s WWDC 2022 conference passed without revelations about preparations for the long-rumoured augmented reality headset announcement. But in an interview with China Daily USA, CEO Tim Cook unexpectedly pushed to keep an eye on Apple’s future offerings in this space.

“I’m incredibly excited about augmented reality (AR), as you may know. And the most important requirement for any technology, including AR is designed to put humanity first, – said the head of Apple in his interview. — I think we are still in the early stages of technology development. I am very excited about the opportunities this space opens up for us, so I invite you to follow the news and see what we have to offer.”.

In May, Bloomberg announced a demonstration of a prototype of Apple’s augmented reality device to members of the company’s board of directors. The headset is rumored to be announced later this year, although it could be pushed back to early next. The novelty could go on sale in 2023. Tim Cook’s remarks against the background of these rumors only add to the intrigue. Competing Meta* and Microsoft have long offered their augmented and virtual reality devices. Previously, Cook had repeatedly emphasized that he saw more potential in augmented reality devices, as this technology was able to cover the needs of the market more than virtual.
