TikTok promises to give Oracle full access to code and recommendation algorithm soon

The administration of the social network TikTok promised “soon” to grant its American partner Oracle full access to the platform’s source code and recommendation algorithm. The aim of the measure is to allay US authorities’ concerns about the threat to national security posed by the application.

In addition to having full access to the source code and recommendation algorithm, Oracle will begin monitoring network gateways that transmit data from the US TikTok cloud infrastructure. The package of measures will be implemented as part of the Project Texas program, which is intended to protect American users from transferring data to China – Oracle supports the platform in the implementation of this program.

“Many of the core components of Project Texas are already in place, and we will be rolling out additional elements of the initiative over the coming weeks and months. <..> TikTok and Oracle continue to work on a solution for the US government. Our teams work together across the software side of TikTok, which is ultimately controlled by Oracle, to ensure the platform runs smoothly for US users.”– said in TikTok.

Now Oracle has limited access to the TikTok source code – the American company does not have the opportunity to fully study the software part of the platform, recommendation algorithms and content moderation methods.
