Threads weekly active audience reaches 20% of Twitter

Threads will likely go down in history as a social network as soon as it was launched, with instant success, gaining 100 million users within days. New data shows that the number of weekly active users on the site has already reached 20% of Twitter’s corresponding number.

Data provided by data.ai experts. Just before that, Sensor Tower saw a slight drop in the popularity of the social network. Last Tuesday and Wednesday, compared to Saturday, July 9, the number of active users decreased by about 20% and the time spent on the social network decreased by 50% – from 20 to 10 minutes.

However, Threads is far from completely losing its initial momentum. According to data.ai, the app has already racked up over 150 million downloads – a 5.5x faster download rate than Pokemon GO, which has held the record for fastest download since its debut in July 2016.

It turned out that the leader in the number of thread downloads was not the US company’s “homeland” but India with a 33% share. Brazil comes second with 22%, while the US is only third with 16%. Finally, Mexico and Japan reached 8% and 5% respectively. The social network is not available in the EU due to possible problems with regulators – recently Meta* started blocking access even for EU citizens using VPNs.
