Threads’ audience has grown to nearly 100 million monthly users

The microblogging platform Threads, which was launched last summer as a competitor to Elon Musk’s social network X, grew “a little less” 100 million monthly active users, said the Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg during the third quarter earnings conference call.

“Three months have passed and I am very satisfied with the development. We are now approaching the point where we need to focus on further developing the community. From what we can tell, people like it so far.”said Mark Zuckerberg. In meta I see an opportunity to seriously compete with the platform formerly known as Twitter, which new owner Elon Musk wants to turn into a super app X, the head of Instagram said at the launch of Threads and project curator Adam Mosseri. The day before, he also expressed the hope that in the coming months the new platform would be able to adapt to the needs of social networks in Europe, ensure compatibility with the protocol of the decentralized social network Fediverse and also integrate more closely with Instagram.

“I’ve been thinking for a long time that there should be a public communications app for a billion people that would be a little more positive. I think if we continue like this for a few more years, we will have a chance to realize our vision.”, added Mark Zuckerberg. His optimism was shared by Meta’s CFO Susan Li: “Threads remains an attractive long-term opportunity and we look forward to supporting its strong momentum in the coming year.”.
