“This is how people with poor eyesight feel when they put on glasses”: The modder showed what the fight with the first Dark Souls 3 boss on Unreal Engine 5 looks like

portal wccftech I noticed that modder Jonx0r has released another video demonstrating FromSoftware’s fantasy RPG Dark Souls 3 on Unreal Engine 5. The new video is dedicated to the combat system.

Remember that in February’s demonstration, Jonx0r showed the game’s starting locations on UE5 – the Graveyard of Ash and the Temple of Fire. At the same time, the modder imported the map, character model, and animation directly from Dark Souls 3.

In the new video, enemies and combat mechanics have been added to the Unreal Engine 5 views – Jonx0r implemented them thanks to the Tempest Combat Framework plugin available on the Unreal Marketplace and the help of its developers.

Jonx0r showed how the protagonist, starting from the starting fire in the Cemetery of Ash, fights through common enemies to the first boss in Dark Souls 3 – Judge Gundyr – and blocks the passage to the Firelink Shrine.

To the naked eye, the lighting in Jonx0r’s video is significantly different (even compared to the February show). Also very different from the original, Dark Souls 3 looks like splashes of water and blood.

Viewers were impressed with Jonx0r’s new work, noting obvious graphical improvements over the original Dark Souls 3: “So this is what people with low vision feel when they put on glasses”— compared OSKaiizen.

Users also complain that Jonx0r’s Unreal Engine 5 version of Dark Souls 3 will never see the light of day. According to the modder, this is not possible because the build includes materials from the original game.
