It took just over eight years to sell 50 million copies of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt worldwide – the game celebrating its next anniversary since its recent release, on May 19th.
The result achieved allows The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to enter the top ten best selling video games of all time. The hit CD Projekt RED has already caught up with the original Overwatch (too 50 million) and something behind Red Dead Redemption 2 (53 million).
The success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt also helped set a new bar for the entire series – 75 million copies (down from 10 million a year ago). Thus, the triquel accounts for two-thirds of the total franchise result.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available for PC (Steam, GOG, EGS), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch. The next numbered game in the series (codenamed Polaris) and a remake of the first installment are currently in development.
