The Sony PlayStation VR2 virtual reality headset appeared first in the photo

The date of the official presentation of Sony’s virtual reality headset PlayStation VR2 has not yet been announced, but game developers have already received samples of the device. Thanks to this, the first “live” image of the novelty appeared on the Internet along with controllers – before that, the headset appeared only on advertising renders.

The picture was published by developers of the Bit Planet Games studio and commented: “Guess what’s coming with PSVR2?”. One of the subscribers asked if posting a photo of the new Sony VR headset violated the non-disclosure agreement. The developers replied that the contract with Sony would be violated if a picture of the device was published six months ago.

At the annual CES 2022 show earlier this year, Sony first announced the features of the new headset and also confirmed the name of the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller. The VR headset itself will be equipped with OLED displays that support a resolution of 2000 × 2040 pixels per eye and a variable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The device offers a viewing angle of 110° and supports the user’s eye-tracking technology.

Sony said last month that more than 20 games would be ready for PlayStation VR2 by launch. “Significant funds are currently being spent on partnerships with indie and other developers to ensure a significant flow of compelling VR content in time for the launch of PlayStation VR2. That energy, effort and funding will only increase as the PlayStation VR2 headset user base grows.”said Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
