Firefight: King of the Hill takes place across nine maps, three of which were created in close collaboration with the community. A team of up to four players battles endless hordes of Covenant fighters, conquering “hills” (actually just fenced areas on the map) and defeating bosses.

Firefight first appeared in the 2009 shooter Halo 3: ODST. In the original version, the mode had seven characters and eight maps. The version for Halo Infinite differs from previous iterations in that enemies now also attempt to capture a key point in the location.

In a game on each of the nine maps featured, players must capture three out of five points to win. After conquering each of these “mountains,” some time is given to breathe and replenish supplies.

Halo Infinite’s free multiplayer was released in November 2021 and the campaign became available in December on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Game Pass (PC and Xbox).
