The seventh major patch added the Barbarian class to Baldur’s Gate 3, and the game’s full release is pushed back to 2023

As promised on February 15 as part of the broadcast Panel from Hell: 5th Edition Independent Belgian studio Larian has shared the details of the seventh major update for the RPG Baldur’s Gate 3.

The main innovation of Absolute Frenzy (as the patch is called) was the barbarian. Characters of this class feed on their own anger to increase damage dealt and gain other temporary buffs.

During the stream, Larian hosted a class demonstration: the developers took on a barbarian of each of the two subspecies (Wildheart and Berserker) and kept throwing weapons and other enemies at enemies throughout the show.

The remaining changes spanned 12 printed pages. For example, see the website for a full list steamand we will list only the most important ones:

  • a radical update of the interface – it has become more compact and informative (there is a search for inventory);
  • improved camouflage – now the bonuses and penalties for living in the light / in the dark are awarded more accurately than before;
  • the introduction of a system of room portals – from now on, players will not be able to look into rooms that have not yet been opened;
  • Added 24 magic items – they can be found all over the world;
  • Improvement of animations for casting spells – for this the developers resorted to motion capture;
  • almost 700 optimized intro videos – more than 400 new animations, improved old ones in 200 interactive dialogues, tempo adjustment.

The seventh patch of Baldur’s Gate 3 includes a number of bug fixes and bug fixes, among other things. The developers separately noted that now Shadowheart’s tail obeys the laws of physics.

Previously, the developers said that the seventh major update of Baldur’s Gate 3 “almost here”and they were not lying: the patch is already available for download on Steam and GOG (so far only in the Windows version), as well as the Google Stadia cloud service.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been in Early Access since October 2020 and will not be released in 2022. As has been revealed, at this point Larian Studios is planning a full release of the game as late as 2023.
