Benji-Sales collected view statistics for the first 24 hours after publication. Not only trailers on the official channels of publishers and developers were taken into account, but also all “re-uploads” that received at least 20,000 views. These are only the original versions of the trailers – author videos with analysis and reactions are not included.
In first place (13 million views) was the trailer of Marathon, an Escape from Tarkov-style PvP shooter from Bungie, creator of the Halo and Destiny series. The studio managed to grab the attention of gamers by announcing a new installment in the franchise that hasn’t shown a sign of life since 1996. However, a complete surprise did not succeed – previously the project was told by insider Tom Henderson (Tom Henderson).
Bungie’s new product came in just ahead of Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (12.2 million views). The 12-minute video contains gameplay footage for two protagonists – Peter Parker, who received new abilities thanks to the black symbiote suit, and Miles Morales, whose strength will lie in the use of gadgets.
The performance of other trailers is several times lower: the video “Assassin’s Creed Mirage” with parkour, covert assassination attempts on the streets of Baghdad and the release date reached 3 million views, and the cinematic teaser of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater did not reach it Bar.
Also, users were surprised by the absence of a kung fu punk-inspired action role-playing game Chinese S-Game’s Phantom Blade Zero from the rankings, which many are calling the show’s best premiere. But the result is also impressive: 1.1 million views on the PlayStation channel alone (same as Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater). The Alan Wake II trailer with snippets of story scenes and gameplay was also not on the list: judging by the indicators on the Remedy Entertainment and IGN channels, it has less than 1 million views.
The top 7 looks like this (follow the links – videos on PlayStation Channel):
- Marathon — 13 million views;
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – 12.2 million;
- Assassin’s Creed Mirage – 3 million;
- Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater – 2.8 million;
- The Final Shape expansion for Destiny 2 — 2.3 million;
- Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted 2 (exclusive to PlayStation VR2) – 1.6 million;
- Dragon’s Dogma II – 1.5 million
