It was announced today that the Chinese gaming giant Tencent will acquire the rights to the Black Shark branded gaming smartphones from Xiaomi. A few hours after that news, the Celestial Empire Digital Chat Station’s authoritative tech blog reported that despite changing hands this year, Black Shark will traditionally be releasing a new generation of gaming smartphones.
According to the source, the Black Shark 5 series will include two smartphones currently codenamed Katyusha and Patriot. One of the devices with the model number KTUS-A0 has already passed certification by the Chinese regulatory authority, which indicates an imminent start of series production. The Black Shark 5 is said to be equipped with the latest flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, a 4,600 mAh dual-cell battery with 100 W fast charging support and a pre-installed Android 12 with a JOYUI skin.
Another Chinese insider named Panda is Bald has revealed details on the more advanced Black Shark 5 Pro. According to him, the smartphone gets a 5000 mAh battery with support for fast 120 W charging and a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a resolution of 2K. The heart of the device will be Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Remember that the current Black Shark 4S and 4S Pro are based on Snapdragon 870 and 888, respectively.
Black Shark itself has not yet released any official details about the upcoming gamephones. The launch date of the devices is still a secret, but it is assumed that it will be around the corner.
