Square Enix itself leaked the fact that the role-playing action film Final Fantasy XVI will not bypass the PC when the game was announced, but now producer Naoki Yoshida has confirmed the development of a PC version for the first time.
As noted by the portal PC gamerYoshida recently spoke about the PC version of Final Fantasy XVI special broadcastcoinciding with the release of the game on the PlayStation 5, which has already taken place.
According to Yoshida, the Final Fantasy XVI team is already working on porting Final Fantasy XVI to PC, but the game needs some tweaking. Due to the workload with the PS5 version, the team didn’t have time for this.
In particular, Yoshida pointed to the Japanese console version of Final Fantasy XVI’s lack of loading screens when switching between locations and transitioning from cutscenes to gameplay.
Yoshida couldn’t reveal any other details about Final Fantasy XVI on PC, such as a release date: “We will share the details of the PC version in due course. Please hold the line”.
It was previously reported that Final Fantasy XVI will be exclusive to the PS5 for at least six months. However, according to Yoshida, the team won’t have time to port the game to PC in such a short time.
Final Fantasy XVI debuted on PS5 on June 22, 2023. Critics praised the game for its cinematic combat, characters, and story, but criticized it for its uneven pacing and superficial role-playing elements.
