Wholesale prices for the GeForce RTX 4090 in China are currently between $2,079 and $2,357, well above the card’s original MSRP of $1,802. At the same time, the cost of the RTX 4090 in Chinese retail is about $2,772. Still, many non-reference GeForce RTX 4090 models have already sold out at a number of Chinese sellers. Some retailers still have graphics cards left. As previously reported, Chinese manufacturers managed to stock up on a certain number of GPUs for this model even before the export restrictions began.
It is noted that the situation with the ban on the supply of GeForce RTX 4090 to China played into the hands of AMD and its partners, which allowed the latter to more aggressively promote the flagship gaming graphics card Radeon RX 7900 XTX, as this was not included in the list of export restrictions.
According to industry sources, sales of the Radeon RX 7900 increased. The specified graphics card model could be purchased in China with discounts for $970. However, as already mentioned, this price for the Radeon RX 7900 XTX did not last long. After the day of sale, the manufacturers increased the price from 27 to 69%, depending on the version.
The ban on deliveries of GeForce RTX 4090 to China also affected the prices of other models of GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards in this country. The cost of the GeForce RTX 4080, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, and GeForce RTX 4070 rose to $1,164, $873, and $623, respectively. Even the younger models GeForce RTX 4060 Ti and GeForce RTX 4060 were included in the distribution and increased in price to $385 and $305, respectively. Previously, AMD also increased competition in the lower price segment of graphics cards with the release of the Radeon RX 6750 GRE model on the RDNA 2 architecture. According to tests, the card is faster than the GeForce RTX 4060, but is offered in the price range between $277 and $346, which is much more attractive than NVIDIA’s offerings.
