NVIDIA is preparing to release the GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card for desktop PCs. The recommended price is already known – $ 599, and the release date is set for April 13. As has now been revealed, the card will target 1440p gameplay at over 100 FPS with ray tracing and DLSS3 enabled.
According to leaked NVIDIA data, a future GeForce RTX 4070 with DLSS3 frame generation disabled should deliver the same performance as the RTX 3080, which doesn’t support this mode at all. Using DLSS2, the new GeForce RTX 4070 will be 1.2x faster than GeForce RTX 3070 Ti and 1.3x faster than RTX 3070. NVIDIA claims that with DLSS3 and frame generation, the novelty 1.4 , 1.7x and 1.8x will be faster than the RTX 3080, RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3070 respectively.
In the following game list from NVIDIA, which demonstrates the capabilities of the GeForce RTX 4070 compared to its predecessors, there are twice as many projects with frame generation support than without. Games without DLSS3 support will likely serve as a tool for testers and reviewers to compare net performance gains between generations of graphics cards.
Experts assume that the RTX 4070 should be an average of 15% slower than the RTX 4070 Ti in games. At 4K, the gap widens even further in favor of the RTX 4070 Ti. Of course, results will vary based on resolution, game quality settings, and test platforms. Not to mention the inclusion of DLSS2/DLSS3 modes in the tests.
