“The number of phishing domains allegedly associated with a Telegram Premium subscription in January of this year was 21. Back then, there were only nine for the entire month of January 2023.”“, the source quotes Igor Bederov, head of the information and analytical research department at T.Hunter.

Other analysts also confirm this information. The company Bi.Zone said that in January this year it identified 20 phishing websites offering to sign up for a premium subscription or participate in a promotion. A representative of the press service of the Coordination Center for RU/РФ Domains confirmed the data on the number of domains for January last year.

“In total, fraudsters registered 34 domains in January that are in some way related to the Telegram messenger. In addition to premium subscriptions, participating in a friend election or a children’s drawing competition are the criminals’ most popular schemes.”– said Diana Selekhina, an expert at the Solar AURA Center for Monitoring External Digital Threats of the Solar Group.

Olga Svistunova, senior content analyst at Kaspersky Lab, said the company’s security solutions prevented over 155,000 transitions to phishing sites allegedly related to Telegram in the first two weeks of January. In addition, only 151,000 attempts to switch to such resources were made in the entire month of January last year.
