The announcement consisted of a short video in which Tomb Raider General Manager Dallas Dickinson announced the start of development on the game and revealed its engine – it will be Unreal Engine 5, which has emerged from early access.

According to Dickinson, UE5 will not only take graphics to the next level, but also storytelling and gameplay. However, no frames from the new Tomb Raider were shown at the presentation.

“We’re committed to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in terms of quality and delivering the high-quality, cinematic action-adventure that fans of Crystal Dynamics and the Tomb Raider franchise deserve.”said Dickinson.

There is no release date or target platforms for the new Tomb Raider yet. It was previously reported that the events of future games in the series will unfold after the classic adventures of tomb raider Lara Croft.
