According to CEO Adam Kicinski, the largest team within CD Projekt is still the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty team, although their numbers have dwindled compared to late 2022.
At the end of 2022, 340 people were still involved in Phantom Liberty, meanwhile there are only 300 employees. However, Kichinskiy predicts that the addon team won’t stay at the top in terms of size for long.

The fact is that after the release of Phantom Liberty, CD Projekt intends to transfer a significant part of the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty team to the development of Polaris (the codename for the next Witcher).
Meanwhile, and without any “help” from the creators of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, by the end of July 2023, the Polaris team had already grown “up to almost 260 developers” This can also be seen in the graphic above.

Polaris will have to wait at least until 2025 (or even longer). The project is a large-scale open-world role-playing game on the Unreal Engine 5 engine and the beginning of a new trilogy.
As for Phantom Liberty, the first and only add-on for Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on September 26 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and S. In anticipation of the release of the add-on, the main game will receive a major update 2.0.
