Following yesterday’s announcement, independent Polish studio CD Projekt RED has slowly started revealing additional information about the next installment in their role-playing game series, The Witcher.
As is known from announcements Radek Grabowski, CD Projekt RED’s Head of Global Communications, will not name a new game in the franchise in his personal microblog The Witcher 4.
“This is our first confirmation of a new saga in The Witcher franchise. At this stage we are not discussing details such as story, characters, mechanics or plot details.said Grabowski.
It also became clear who is leading the development of the new The Witcher – this person turned out to be Director of the card game Gwent: The Witcher Card Game Jason Slama. He leads the project June 2021.
“I am very pleased to announce that I am humbly working to ensure the success of the next big AAA game in The Witcher franchise as Development Lead!” Slama shared.
CD Projekt RED has already confirmed that the next The Witcher will be built on Unreal Engine 5 in a long-term strategic partnership with Epic Games. The purpose of this collaboration is to adapt the Unreal Engine for open world games.
The release date and target platform list for the new The Witcher has not been announced at this time, but CD Projekt RED assures that the game will not be available exclusively for a digital store.
