Twitter’s new CEO, Linda Yaccarino, who took over her duties last week, sent an email to employees Monday saying the informedthat the social media platform should become the world’s most accurate source of information in real time.
Iaccarino pointed out that Elon Musk, who bought the microblogging service in October last year, has successfully spearheaded the transformation of companies in other industries, such as aerospace and automobiles.
It became clear that the global place (Musk called Twitter a “digital place”) needed to be redesigned. “To advance civilization through unfiltered information sharing and open dialogue about the things that matter most to us” written by Iaccarino.
“Twitter’s mission is to become the world’s most accurate source of real-time information and the global urban communications space.” she said in a memo. — We are on the cusp of making history and that is no empty promise.”
Musk said he will remain involved with Twitter and oversee the development of the service. After he took office, the company’s workforce was reduced from almost 8,000 employees to around 1,500 people (as of April this year).
In a memo, Iaccarino wrote that people should really believe in the Twitter 2.0 vision and work hard to make it a reality. “The success of Twitter 2.0 is our responsibility” She added.
