The following games will be removed from the App Store and Google Play on December 1st:

  • Deus Ex Go;
  • Arena Battle Champions;
  • Hitman Sniper: The Shadows;
  • Space Invaders: Hidden Heroes.

Project support will continue until January 4, 2023, after which even the current owners will not be able to start it. In-game payments have already been disabled, and the authors advise you to discard previously made purchases before the deadline — no refunds are provided.

Other games by the team, including Lara Croft Go and Hitman Go, are not scheduled to go on sale just yet.

Embracer Group announced the purchase of Square Enix Montreal, Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal in May 2022. Together with the studios, the holding acquired the rights to their games, including the Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief and Legacy of Kain series. This month, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier spoke about the closure of the first studio that had been renamed Onoma a few weeks earlier. Some of the laid-off employees go to Eidos Montreal.

Schreier also announced the downsizing of one of the future Eidos Montreal games and that production of the new Deus Ex has started “very very early stage”. In August, VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grubb shared information that the developers plan to return to Deus Ex and “Do What Cyberpunk 2077 Couldn’t”.

Square Enix Montreal was formed in November 2011 to develop new big-budget Hitman titles. In 2013, the team refocused on mobile projects – the first being Hitman Go, the success of which convinced Square Enix to sanction the development of turn-based puzzles based on their other franchises. Lara Croft Go, Deus Ex Go, as well as the shooters Hitman: Sniper and Hitman Sniper: The Shadows have become the studio’s most successful works.

Deus Ex Go was released in August 2016 for iOS, Android and Windows 10 Mobile. Like other Go series games, it is designed as a board game with puzzle elements, but this installment has a story component and a level editor. Users control Adam Jensen (Adam Jensen), and the events take place before the start of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. The hero moves along the hexagonal grid, neutralizing guards, hacking gadgets and activating augmentations. Like Hitman Go and Lara Croft Go, the game scored over 80 out of 100 metacritical. Critics noted the series’ excellently conveyed atmosphere and interesting puzzles.
