It has been announced that the Dota 2 The International 2023 tournament will be held in Seattle, Valve’s hometown, for the first time since 2017. Traditionally, the largest prize pools of all competitions are raffled off at this event.
The 2023 International kicks off with group stage games starting on October 14. The playoffs and deciders will take place beginning October 27 at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. Note that the Climate Pledge Arena, formerly known as KeyArena, is the exact location where Valve held The International from 2014-2017.
In 2018, the company decided to move the most prestigious Dota 2 tournament to Rogers Arena in Vancouver, which was due to the start of a long renovation of the KeyArena. In recent years, Valve has also hosted The International in China, Romania and Singapore. In 2020 the tournament was supposed to take place in Sweden but was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
When announcing the venue for The International 2023 this week, Valve also said that this year’s tournament will draw the largest audience. Dota 2 fans and those interested in participating in the tournament can learn more about how tickets will be distributed closer to the start of the event.
