It has been announced that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom sold more than 10 million copies worldwide in the first three days after its release. Of these, 4 million came from South and North America and 2.24 million from Japan alone.

The result achieved makes The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom the fastest-selling game in the history of the franchise. For comparison, it took Breath of the Wild 10 million to hit the bar over a year and a half.

“We’re grateful to all of our fans who have supported The Legend of Zelda over the years, and these sales figures for the latest game are another indication of the strong momentum for both the franchise and Nintendo Switch this year.”one says at Nintendo.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was released on May 12 for $70. The game garnered top marks from the press, won over the Digital Foundry expert (albeit with reservations) and also had the best start of any 2023 release at UK retail.
