The Apple iPhone 15 Pro has received a faster 5G modem compared to its predecessor. This is proven by the test data SpeedSmart – Compared to last year’s iPhone 14 Pro, Apple’s next-generation smartphone accelerated cellular network connections by up to 24%.

Among the largest US carriers, Verizon saw the largest increase in connection speeds: the average download speed on the iPhone 14 Pro was 195.83 Mbps and the iPhone 15 Pro showed 243.06 Mbps. The highest absolute value was recorded on the T-Mobile network – 300.92 Mbit/s, and the most modest results were recorded on the AT&T network – 204.34 Mbit/s. And all three operators have only slightly increased the speed on the outgoing channel. The reason for the increase in numbers may have been the updated modem of the Apple iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.
The manufacturer didn’t mention which modem is built into the new iPhones, but according to SpeedSmart, the Pro models received the Qualcomm SnapdragonUnmatched data speed, coverage and latency” The modem is equipped with an artificial intelligence subsystem that is designed to improve the quality of communication in the available 5G bands. The same modem is installed on the smartphones of the Samsung Galaxy S23 series.
According to unconfirmed reports, Apple has been developing its own 5G modem for several years, but has not yet achieved success in this area: it was recently announced that Qualcomm will continue to supply modems for the iPhone until 2026.
