Intel will actually release the Arc A580 discrete graphics card more than a year after it was announced. Some Japanese retailers have already started selling the new accelerator to customers without waiting for an official announcement from the manufacturer.
The lack of availability of the Arc A580 graphics card a year after its announcement suggested that Intel had decided to abandon the release of this graphics card altogether. This idea was supported by the delay of the entire Intel Arc Alchemist series of discrete graphics cards caused by various development problems, as well as the low competitive potential of the Arc A580 against the background of AMD and NVIDIA solutions. However, for unknown reasons, Intel apparently still allowed its partners to release this model.
As previously reported, only two companies showed interest in releasing the Arc A580 – ASRock and Sparkle. The first prepared the Arc A580 Challenger OC model, the second prepared the Arc A580 ORC OC version. An ASRock model was discovered at some computer retailers in Japan, Canada and the USA. Intel itself has not yet made any official statements about the release of the Arc A580.
In Japan, the Arc A580 Challenger OC has been listed at Bic Camera dealer, one of the largest in the country. The store was offering a new product for 38,880 yen (US$261). The same shop also offers the older model Arc A750 Challenger OC. The cost is 55,440 yen (US$372). This means that the price of the Arc A580 is around 30% cheaper. According to the VideoCardz portal, despite the lack of an official announcement from Intel, the Arc A580 is already supported by the latest driver versions for Arc and Iris graphics. Another thing is that the card is not yet widely available in stores.
The Arc A580 is available for pre-order in Canada and the USA. There the new product costs 209.96 US dollars or 274 Canadian dollars. For comparison, the Arc A750 Challenger model is offered for $219 in the official ASRock online shop on the American retailer Newegg’s platform. Newegg Canada doesn’t have this exact version of the Arc A750, but the cheapest version of this model is offered for $340 Canadian.
According to rumors, specialist media and tech bloggers have already received the Arc A580 for testing.
