Last Saturday, September 17th was Ayala’s last day at Blizzard Entertainment. What the developer will do next is unclear: in his Twitter bio he is now “unemployed”.

“Hearthstone is an incredible game. To play even a small role in its creation is an honor I will never forget. Thank you to all players and especially to my co-creators. I’m proud of what we’ve built together.”Ayala shared it.

Ayala joined Blizzard Entertainment in June 2011. In 2014, the developer became Hearthstone’s game designer, in 2016 he was promoted to lead game designer, and in February 2022 he was promoted to director.

It is not yet known who will replace Ayala as head of Hearthstone development. Another major expansion for the game, Murder at Castle Nathria, was released in August.
